First of all this battery works and does it job. It charges in a reasonable amount of time and lets you run your camera for some time as well. Holding its charge in storage it does ok but always plan to do a fresh recharge before taking it out for use.
It does have a downfall though. As mentioned in the description the small cable that comes with it is needed in order to operate this battery. So as this battery is plugged into the camera a cable runs from it and plugs into the camera as well. So now you have a small loop coming off the back of the camera that could easily get caught on something. First the battery is large and sticks out and then you have a cable loop to contend with. Now of course with a battery of this capacity it's going to be larger but the cable loops makes it dangerous in a way. Mostly the danger for the camera because if something gets caught on the loop you might just lose your grip and the thing will drop.
Not all is lost mind you. I still use this battery for work I need done. Mostly I use this in time lapse work on the Sony DCR-HC62 or driving videos and even some of those are in time lapse. Mounting this camera to my car I can get a lot of needed video for projects of driving or of myself and friends in the car. Watching a storm come in I can time lapse the clouds rolling in or sun rises or a multitude of other things.
In conclusion this battery lasts and does what's needed to get video for long periods without needing to change the battery. The size of it can be a drawback but large capacity batteries always have been big for all my cameras but the cable is something that could hurt when being used in the field. If caught on something it could cause you to damage your camera.
Need a battery for long runs in environments that have very little possibility of getting something snapped on the cable and is cheap? Then this battery will work for you.
